Dr. Arne S. SteinforthArne Steinforth is a social anthropologist with a focus on political anthropology, anthropology of religion, and medical anthropology (particularly transcultural psychiatry).

His research focuses on 1) Religion and Politics including power and authority, post-secularism, occult economies and political cosmologies, and 2) Psychiatry and Religion including the conception of personhood and the (ab)normal mind, madness and/in power, and the limits of pathologization, normalization, and ideology. The regional focus of my research is South-Eastern Africa (especially Malawi).
